Hello, I’m Emma, an artist and surface pattern designer.
My artwork is bright, vibrant, and peppered with animal and plant motifs inspired by my love of nature and the outdoors. I live in a small village in the Cotswolds in the UK and enjoy taking my kids on long walks through the woods, where inspiration is all around me.
My previous career was in the travel industry where I was surrounded by images of exotic destinations, as well as art and textiles from around the world. Working on brochures and the website meant I was immersed in the colour and vibrancy of travel. This has definitely influenced my design eye and the way I work with shape and colour.
As an artist I am constantly adapting and trying new techniques and mediums. I am drawn to the fluidity of watercolour, but in contrast to this I also love to work with strong outlines and forms. I often start my patterns with a pencil or ink sketch which I then colour and edit in Adobe Illustrator.
My designs are perfectly suited to fabric, interiors and stationery. Please drop me a line if you are interested in collaboration or licensing any of my designs.
My favourite things: The dawn chorus - Light shining through spring leaves - A blank sketchbook page - Reading to my children - A huge cup of tea and a book
